Vineyard Notes
Our 2015 Cabernet Franc is made from fruit grown in Patrick County Va from
one of Chateau Morrisette’s long time growers.
Production Notes
One of the parents of the familiar
Cabernet Sauvignon grape, Cabernet Franc is perhaps a little less know than its
popular offspring. However, this does not overshadow the ability to make Cabernet
Franc into outstanding wines in its own right. Commonly planted in Virginia due its
earlier ripening and ability to survive cold winters, Cabernet Franc is a versatile grape
that can produce a wide range of wines. Often lighter in color with flavors from fruity
dark berries to spicy bell pepper, Cabernet Franc is perfectly at home as a standalone
varietal wine, a blending component, or as a rosé.
Winemaker Notes
Aged in a mix of new and old oak barrels, our 2015 Cabernet Franc greets us
first with its beautiful garnet red color. Next, this wine offers aromas of black cherry,
raspberry, and black pepper, with hints of blueberry. Finally, soft and supple tannins
mingle with flavors of raspberry, toasted oak, and a nuance of green tea which guides
us through a medium long finish.
Food Pairing Notes
The lighter, softer, and fruitier nature of this wine makes it a versatile
companion to many foods or as an enjoyable wine to simply relax and enjoy. Savor
this wine with a wide variety of cheeses, grilled vegetables, beef, pork tenderloin,
and grilled or sautéed poultry. Cheers!
