Executive Chef: Chef Oshie Morrisette

From a young age, Chef Oshie knew he was destined for the kitchen. At just 12, he declared his dream of becoming a chef, setting in motion a journey that would bring him back to his own kitchen and family business in Floyd, VA. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Chef Oshie traveled to Napa, CA, to train at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. There he worked alongside some of the world’s best chefs and immersing himself in the art of fine dining and wine.

His culinary adventures took him to renowned vineyards and iconic kitchens, including the historic Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. where he further developed his love and artistry of southern traditions. After accomplishing his dream of becomming a chef, Chef Oshie returned to Chateau Morrisette as Executive Chef, bringing a new level of artistry and passion to the kitchen. Chef Oshie's commitment to elevated southern cuisine shines through in every dish, as he blends innovation with tradition and he and his team craft cuisine that's both beautiful and delicious.

Chef Oshie’s dedication to farm to table cuisine goes beyond just a philosophy; it’s a way of life for him and the Morrisette family. With ingredients sourced locally and a new initiative to grow fresh produce on-site, he and his team craft dishes that reflect the beauty and bounty of Virginia. From house-made pasta to corn grits ground daily, every meal is a celebration of fresh flavors and family heritage.

The Chef's Dinner Series

The Chef's Dinner is a culinary journey. Be our guest for this exclusive event that is a gastronomical experience as surprising, as it is delightful. Every course is made with fresh, in season ingredients, expertly crafted by our Executive Chef Oshie Morrisette, Sous Chef Emma Blankenship and our skilled culinary team. The courses remain a surprise throughout the dinner until they are delivered. Each course is served with a paired wine that is introduced and described in detail. This experience takes place one night every two months, when we reserve the entire restaurant for just 20 guests.

This event sells out quickly.

If you would like to dine with us during a visit to the winery, or make plans the same day, please check in with our reservation specialist located in the tasting room or call 540-593-2865. We will be happy to check for any open reservations.

Please call our friendly reservation specialists 540-593-2865 at least 7 days in advance, and they will be happy to assist you. They will explain our set menu options for larger parties and make sure you have all the details covered so your group will have a great time.

It is always best to work with our reservation specialists for your large party. Unfortunately, we are not able to seat different reservations together at one table, or guarantee that they will be in the same dining room. For the comfort of your guests, and the best experience possible please let us prepare for your large party in advance.

Yes! We love kids, and families. We have high chairs available for infants and toddlers and can offers different dining options to make sure the youngest members of your party are comfortable and happy. We believe fine dining is great for kids to expand their palete and experiences, but also have practical solutions for picky eaters. Talk to your server about what works best for your family. Kids meals are available for $10. Please include children when making your reservation.

Resoundingly yes! Since all of our dishes are made to order, most of our selections can be adapted for your specific requests or needs. Just be sure to let your reservation specialist know when you make your reservation and discuss your options with our knowledgable and friendly servers. The menu is also clearly marked to indicate which selections are vegan or vegetarian.

We take allergies and food sensitivities very seriously. Our staff is trained in the Serv-Safe allergy protocol and is familiar with alpha-gal and and other allergies. We have several dishes available to those with alpha-gal including a fish selection, chicken, and duck confit. Symptoms of alpha-gal can vary, so it's important to communicate any specific needs with the server or chef. We offer a wide variety of alternatives for those with seafood or nut allergies, but please be aware that seafood and nut items are prepared in our kitchen.
